Consumer forum directs housing society to pay flat owner ₹50,000

  ‘Caused mental agony by failing to carry out repairs’ The Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum in Bandra recently directed a housing society in Ghatkopar (West) to pay ₹50,000 as compensation to a flat owner for causing mental agony by failing to carry out repairs, and ₹25,000 as litigation cost. Vinod Natesan, the resident of Mahindra Park Cooperative Housing Society Limited, informed the society of leakage in his flat in 2013. The society appointed Arif Chunawalla to handle the complaint and Mr. Natesan briefed him about it on June 17, 2013, and also sent him an email. Mr. Natesan said the leakage had damaged furniture and created an unhealthy ambiance. He paid ₹8.75 lakh for repairs and on October 4, 2014, informed the society that repairs were not carried out as per the contract and requirement of the members. Maharashtra cabinet gives 9 months more for housing societies to hold annual general meetings

The state cabinet finally allowed a nine-month extension (till March 2022) to housing societies to hold annual general meetings, akin to the one granted in 2020-21. Management committees can transact budgets appoint an auditor for the next fiscal, and decide on dividends or budgeted balance left in audited accounts. The extension was recommended by the state cooperatives commissioner, citing that only 20% of societies had their audits and budgets ready due to Covid restrictions that were in place till August 31. Following demands from housing societies in Mumbai metropolitan region, the commissioner had recommended to the state cooperatives department  an extension for holding housing society AGMs till March 2022.   PUNE Starting from January 3, 2022, the vaccination drive for minors aged between 15 and 18 years began in Pune as part of a national initiative PUNE Starting from January 3, 2022, the vaccination drive for minors aged between 15 and 18 years began in Pune as part of a national initiative. The vaccination drive ran from 10 am to 6 pm with 40 centers administering 250 doses each on Monday. Currently, in Pune, minors are being jabbed with Covaxin. PMC allowed 50% of available doses to be administered via walk-in registrations. No more than five minors were allowed at any one time, to avoid long queues. With a number of   Covid-19   cases, including that of the new variant   Omicron , rising in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Patil has directed the officials of the PCMC to prepare for the possibility of a third wave, officials said. At an emergency meeting of top officials of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) held on Saturday, the civic body decided to restart the Auto Cluster Covid Hospital in Chinchwad and the Jumbo Covid Hospital at Nehrunagar.
